Far Far East

All of our cries have reached the shore, your voice, your touch, your love, will remain deep in my heart.

Now her eyes drifted to the east, that single tear fell away, to add to the sea, her toes pressed into the sands, while she watched the ships sail off, into the darkness, away from sight, far far to the east.

Her hand drifted over the ring, given just days ago, on this very beach. She said a silent prayer for him, for her love, for her life, which sailed away, far away, far far to the east.

She could not move, her feet had froze, she watched the sun set, the stars and moon rose. Its bright white light, shined over the seas, those seas, which carried her new husband,  far away, far away to the east.

All she could remember was his voice, which sang so proud and true, “worry not about me, be strong”, “I will return to you soon”.

She turned to walk away, but she would return every day, her toes to dig into the sands, her eyes to gaze afar, waiting, praying, for those ships, to travel over those waters, those waters which will carry her new husband, back into her arms.

“I love you”, my strong soldier, which sailed away, far away, far far to the east.
